About Duke Angel Network

Duke Angel Network Raison D’être (Reason for Existence)

Duke Angel Network helps private companies grow by facilitating the flow of capital and by providing ongoing support to its portfolio companies.
Duke Angel Network helps our members diversify their investments in companies with significant growth and financial return.

Founded in 2015, the Duke Angel Network invests in companies in which a founder, executive, or board member is a Duke University alumnus, faculty member, staff member, student, or parent. Duke Angel Network members (investors) are individual accredited investors with a Duke affiliation. The group targets private companies with the potential for significant growth and financial return. In addition to facilitating investments, the Duke Angel Network leverages the power of the global Duke community to provide guidance and expertise to portfolio companies.

A Steering Committee guides strategy and operations, and a Managing Director runs the operations of the network, including a team of student associates that provides resources for networking, diligence, transactions, and portfolio company support.

Duke Innovation Fund

The Duke Innovation Fund consists of philanthropic contributions that support innovation and entrepreneurship across the global Duke community. The Fund will match the angel member investments in each deal, with matching amounts at the discretion of the Steering Committee. All proceeds are returned to the Fund and reinvested in companies. Duke University has committed $2 million to the Fund with an initial target size of $20 million in committed capital.
